Definition and Usage

The progress event occurs when the browser is downloading the specified audio/video.

During the loading process of an audio/video, the following events occur, in this order:

  1. loadstart
  2. durationchange
  3. loadedmetadata
  4. loadeddata
  5. progress
  6. canplay
  7. canplaythrough

Browser Support

The numbers in the table specify the first browser version that fully supports the event.

Syntax

In HTML:

<audio|video onprogress="myScript">Try it

In JavaScript:

audio|video.onprogress=function(){myScript};Try it

In JavaScript, using the addEventListener() method:

audio|video.addEventListener("progress", myScript);Try it

Note: The addEventListener() method is not supported in Internet Explorer 8 and earlier versions.
